Research
Much research has been conducted to verify that proper training provides higher achievement in the workplace. In the educational workplace, the same results have also been recognized. Teachers who have earned their credentials through a qualified program will show higher student achievement than those without credentials. Some states, such as California, have also witnessed higher student achievement when teachers are mentored within their first few years of their teaching experience. This project, however, will focus on mentoring teachers who are not necessarily new to teaching, but new to our site-based program. Anytime an employee begins a new position, learning must occur. When a teacher begins a new position, he/she not only needs to learn about a new place of employment, but also needs to continue to prepare & teach lessons and monitor student understanding. Removing some of the learning curve of a teacher in a new environment, will allow the teacher to focus more on the job-at-hand: Students. The following research has been conducted to show how proper training will yield better results.
