Evidence of Success
This project included a survey asking teachers new to academy programs a
series of questions regarding the training they received. All teachers
surveyed had been at an academy for less than one year and were from a variety
of backgrounds, including just exiting college, and teaching in private and/or
traditional public schools.The following data shows the survey responses.
Upon completion of the handbook, survey participants were asked to preview it and answer questions on the possible helpfulness of it to their own transition into the academy and how helpful they feel it would be to incoming teachers. The results are below.
In addition to the above questions, 80% of the survey participants indicated that there was information in the handbook of which they were unaware. Furthermore, suggestions were made to add a section for field trip requirements, as well as a section for specific site requirements.
